I have a copy of SpinRite that is a bootable CD. I've used in many times on my Windows XP Tablet. Now I can't get it too boot on my newer ACER All-In-One Windows 8.1 so that I can run it.
GRC, who made SpinRite, can't get me going. I need to ask for help. GRC blames it on the Free DOS and wants me to try making another bootable SpinRite using a Windows XP to make an MS-DOS bootable copy. But I've had no luck figuring out how to do that with either of my old XPs.
This new ACER computer of mine seems to be seriously sick and it even just somehow lost track of the 4 digit PIN that I'd set up for easier logins and it constantly ignores my keyboard as I try to enter text on Facebook or my mouse.

But my issue so far is that I can't even get to the BIOS to change the settings to make the CD/DVD Optical Drive the first choice. Here's a combo PIC of what I see as I start the PC and then after I press F12 as it boots:
For some reason it doesn't do anything when I hit the up or down arrows on the keyboard so I can't get it to boot on anything but the normal Windows on the hard drive.
The keyboard had just worked fine as I pressed F12 so the arrow keys should also work. But maybe there isn't anything else in that list for it to display?
On that other Question, Stance said on 4/17 that '
Newer machines with Win 88.1 might use UEFI BIOS which has a SECURE BOOT feature... If this is enabled in your BIOS, the machine won't boot from anything except the hard drive ... There is also a FAST BOOT feature in the Bios that may need to be disabled also... '
I don't know much about computers but I do seem to remember seeing something about a FAST BOOT setting in my Control Panel.
This is all I know. Can I have some help?
I just realized that it tells me to hit <Delete> during the boot up to enter setup. Oops .... I'll Post this and then go try that.
